Thank you for looking in to service users placements at Branching Out for people with learning disabilities and difficulties.
What happens at Branching Out 
Everyday we have lots of different activities that are coordinated with a person centred weekly timetable that all service user follow.
When service users attend Branching Out they are coming into a real work environment working with staff from a variety of employments backgrounds. We want everyday to be a day to learn something new developing social skills, personal developments, confidence, work skills and much more.
Work areas can cater to all abilities and will make sure the most is got out of everyday s pent with us.
Our Work Areas
The Sapling Project- Woodwork and Carpentry skills are delivered in a newly refurbished work area with excellent facilities. Service users will be able to show off their skills in a variety of methods and practical knowledge of the subject and health and safety. This is a top quality work area run by Shane Catton.
Retail- Hands on work experience in all the aspects of Charity Shop retail. Service users work with our shop staff gaining practical knowledge of the area and how the shop runs on a daily basic developing their confidence and work ready skills. Coordinated by Heidi Constable
Recycling- Recycling takes places everywhere at Branching Out but once a week we ha ve a group of servcie users and staff that have a day off site going to all the local recycling sites clearing them.
Horticulture- Managing crop cycle, land preparation, tool and equipment and health and safety awareness are just a few things you will be learning while working in the Horticulture department.
Work Experience- At Branching Out our aim is to help and support service users becoming work ready. It is a long process to get to the stage where we can help our service users look at external work experience placements buy has some priceless outcomes at the end. Run as a whole team approach.
Activities- The Activities group and cake baking group are run for therapeutic and enjoyment reasons. Within the activities group service users are able to take part in art and craft sessions and computer work and going out on small outings visiting the community. The cake baking group is a great chance for service user to learn about food hygiene, health and safety and domestic appliances while cooking.
