College Certificate- Life Skills, Work Skills, Skills for Life
The Skills for Life programme provides students with a wide variety of learning experiences and helps to develop confidence and independence.
When students have completed they will each be presented with a College Certificate highlighting work which has been undertaken.
Students can choose from:
Cooking
Working on making hot and cold drinks, using the kettle, making toast, making a sandwich, learn how to prepare vegetables for selling.
Shopping
You will work towards being able to had over money and wait for change, pick up the correct items using a shopping list, write your own list
Domestic appliances
Learning how to use a fridge, freezer, oven, washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave.
Domestic Cleaning
Learn how to sweep a floor and mop a floor, dust and clean various surfaces and hover and how to empty the hover.
Care of Kitchen
You will work on clearing a work surface putting things away in the correct place, wipe down table, mix water to the correct temperature, adding washing liquid appropriately, wipes and cleans sink area and cooker.
Horticulture
You will be working towards knowing when to cut the grass, use edging tools when needed, understands the function of tools, transplant plant, identify trees, shrubs, flowers, fruit and vegetables, care for plants correctly
Woodwork
You will be working on some of these skill areas understanding the source of wood, identifying tools used in specific exercises, identifying materials used in a specific exercise and construct simple article independently
Retail
Learning how to identify different retail outlets, job rolls in retail, return tools and equipment after use, follow instructions to unpack stock, use correct equipment to move stock, follow health and safety procedures at all times and great customers correctly.
