Work Experience
Creating opportunities for All
Branching Out (part of the Steng network) works in partnership with Huntingdon Regional helps to create opportunities for all in the workplace.
Our current objective is to have people with learning disabilities and difficulties attending work experience placements in local organisations to help encourage work skills and create opportunities for all.
Learners are supported by Huntingdon Regional College and Branching Out staff fully trained in education and needs for adults with learning disabilities and difficulties. We help prepare all our learners with work skills and help them to develop them in the time at Branching Out helping to achieve their end target from a paid job to entering mainstream education.
We are having an excellent success rate with learners in work placements is various job rolls from cleaning buses at Mil-Ken travel to working in the dry goods department stacking shelves at Waitros.

" My name is Anthony and I am doing work experience at Waitrose. I work on the dry goods department stacking shelves. I have put cereals and crisps on shop floor. When putting items out I need to look for item flavour and how much they weigh and how many lines of each item need to be out. I also look for the best before date so I can put them in order. I enjoy showing everyone at Branching Out my uniform"
Branching Out General Manager- "It has been an excellent team approach and we are all delighted with the students achievments. It is wonderful to see the students confidence grow with this opportunity and the support from local organisations."
